Bible StudyUpon arriving in Lima, Peru on May 17th an immediate search for housing began. It took several weeks to get everything set up. There were four families to get settled in and time needed to make preparations for starting a church. The Henlines were able to find a house that has plenty of room for offices and is very suitable for training nationals and hosting groups.

Bible studies have been held in the house of Julia Akaki for several weeks and also in the park in front of her house.  Since then we made several new contacts and have been building relationships with them, while waiting on the Lord to provide a place for us to meet.  Several of people have shown great interest and have been attending these bible studies faithfully.

The HenlinesFinding a building to rent in Lince is very difficult, and we spent much time praying asking God to show us a place we could use. After several weeks, we found a storefront in Lince for rent that is 2 blocks away from the biggest Catholic church in Lince, and four blocks away from a large Jehovah Witness compound. We were interested in the first and second floor and went to talk with the person who owned the storefront. After a few short seconds we realized that the 7th Day Adventist had already told the man they were interested in renting the store. We thought at this time there was no way we would be able to get this location, but the man told us if we were interested in the first and second floor he would rather rent to us because he didn't have anyone to rent the second floor. Several days later we signed a 6 month contract on the building. The second floor is not available until the 10th of August, and will be used for children and a nursery.  Our goal is to coach and train a national by the name of Luis Benites to be the pastor. Luis has been doing a great job preaching and taking care of all church duties. Please pray that God will continue to use Luis as we prepare for the start of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lince.

Blalock's in Language SchoolRick and Christal have already begun language school, and have been a big help getting things started here in Lima. They will be involved in a variety of different ministry opportunities. Rick has already been working on a chronological Bible correspondence program that we will be using as a way to meet new people and share God's Word with them. Please continue to pray for them as they learn the language and use their talents to reach the people of Lima, Peru.

Fern Pannell arrived from New Zealand the 18th of July and we are excited to have her here.  She comes from a very good church and she has been preparing to come to Peru since July of last year. Fern will be learning the language, working in the ministry, and serving in many different ways. Keep her in your prayers as she fulfills what God wants her to do with her life.

On July, 22nd, a group from the First Baptist Church of Milford will arrive and be a part of the first church services that will be held in the Lighthouse Baptist Church. The group will be involved in literature distribution, and helping get things ready for the start of the church. The group has been preparing for this trip for two years and many of them have made many sacrifices to come.  We know because of their preparation God is going to use them immensely here in Lima.  Please pray with us this week as we prepare to hold the first services of the church on July 30th.

Fern in Language SchoolOur plans in the near future, the Lord permitting, are as follows:

  • Start a distance learning program that teaches the Bible chronologically, tying in the main stories of the Bible with each other.
  • Establish the church in Lince enough that it is growing on its own and reproducing its own disciples.
  • Disciple the Peruvian leaders God has allowed us to influence and aid them in starting churches.
  • Encourage everyone we can to get involved in reaching this world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We have tried to update you with everything that is going on and encourage you to pray for us as we continue to reach this world for Christ. We are very excited about what God has done here in the short 2 months that we have been here, and with eagerness we look forward to what God is going to do.

Discipling Syncretism

Syncretism silently damns its victims to Hell while giving them assured Salvation. The Bible is plain on Syncretism and every believer must be aware of its passages or will soon find themselves discipling syncretism.
