Today was not as productive as we hoped. We used our taxi driver that helped us much yesterday but the places we looked today he was not familiar with. Of course, he acted like he was and knew of apartments and houses for rent but it was obvious that he didn't know where to look. We looked at several houses for Ja and Christina but to no avail. It is funny to watch these people drive here. We watched a 5 lane highway magically turn into a 7 lane highway in about 5 seconds!

Ja and I met with the manager of the apartment complex that had a 2 bedroom apartment we were interested in yesterday. They actually have the whole apartment furnished and ready to go for us if we want it! We are going to meet with them soon to talk about closing the deal at $500! We were praying for something we could afford that was centrally located where the ministry works are (no small feat) and we believe God has provided this one.

The exhaust from all these vehicles is really bothering my throat. Christal bought me some halls to help, which they do, but my throat is starting to hurt real bad from all this smog (no wonder the average life span of a Lima citizen is 55!). Where we will be living is not as bad though.

We have noticed that there are many JW's out and about. One of the ladies stopped and talked to us for about 5 minutes. Many of the taxi drivers and other service people ask us if we are Mormons or JW's because we tell them we are "missionaries". I am wondering if we should give them a different name for what we are doing just so they don't think we are from one of those cults.

Ja and I are trying to keep a "manual" (if you will) of everything we are doing, from how to find a good taxi to dealing with national pastors. Hopefull this will be helpful to someone else coming to Lima or a comparable city. It isn't as much a "how to" but a "what we did" log. I know we have a whole list of "what not to do" to list already!

Verse of the Day:
Pr 20:24 "Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?"
