During a missions conference in Ardmore, Alabama, Brent Logan preached a series of messages from the book of Jonah. Those messages stirred my heart greatly and has given me a desire to study the book of Jonah even more. Today the Lord gave me a thought out of this book that I would like to share.

It is interesting that the book of Jonah starts out with the phrase, "Now the word of the Lord." There is nothing that is more important than the word of the Lord. No messenger is more important than the message being delivered, and a whole city is going to be destroyed or delivered depending on whether or not they get God's message.

We have the same situation in the generation we live in today. People and great cities are going to be destroyed if we do not obey God in getting them His message of salvation. We will either obey God and go, or God will make our lives miserable, like the life of Jonah, if we choose to run from him.

As we think about the importance of God's message, I think it is interesting that in chapter 3, and verse 5, the Bible says, "So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them."

What the Lord showed me this morning is that when we preach God's message people will believe God. So many times we wonder why people are not getting saved and coming to God, but if we examine the messages we are preaching I believe we would see that many times we preach Our messages so that we can deal with the issues of the day. When people hear God's message they will believe and as soon as the people of Nineveh believed they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth. They did this because they wanted to get right with God. Isn't it amazing that when people hear God's message it changes their life.

Are we getting the word of God to those who haven't heard? People are waiting! People are going to be destroyed and cast into hell if we do not get them God's message. I pray that the Lord will help us reach this entire world with the gospel, so that people from tongue, tribe, and nation will be able to glorify God.
