Enduring Opposition - Hebrews 12.3
|
| Written by Rick E Blalock |
| Reflect on the Lord Jesus often, in fact, do it constantly. Consider how He suffered in an earthly body: yes on the cross, yes through lashings, yes through blows to the face, but consider His patience through persecution of words and will. Everything He said and did was opposed by the sinner on earth. Even Peter He called "Satan" because Peter opposed the will of God. A perfect God walked in filthy company and yet He "endured such contradiction of sinners against himself." He did not complain or destroy everyone who opposed His will, by His grace He 'endured' them. Now consider yourself. Are you patient with the opposition? Have you the endurance to suffer for their sake? Those that oppose you, backbite, and slander can become the ones that cause you to fail. The LORD Jesus did not fail in His mission because what He came to do was more important than what they had to say. It is the same for every believer that must endure the opposition. Don't become weary over the contradiction of sinners, be strong in His example. |
