Let God's Glory Return (Haggai 2:1-9)
Written by Ja Henline

Haggai 2:1-9

In this passage God speaks through Haggai and wants him to talk to the people and remind them of the first glory of the house of God. Then he encourages them to be strong and the Lord tells them, “…work, for I am with you…” In verse 7 God says that he will shake all nations and that the glory the house of God had experienced in the past would return, and the house of God would be full of glory. In verse 9, the Bible says, “…and in this place will I give peace.” The reason many of our churches don’t have peace is because we have lost the glory of God. There are some older folks in the church that can give testimonies of the glory days of the church, but God has allowed a drought to come over the church because of sin and the lack of desire to make Christ known among the nations. If we truly desire to see the glory of God in our lives and in our churches, we have to be concerned with making Him known among all nations. When we are only concerned about our family life centers, Christian schools, church softball team, and how to keep our youth happy, we will loose the glory of God because of our disobedience in reaching the world with the Gospel. Let’s do a work for God, not ourselves, and remember it is not what we can do, but what he can do through us. God will shake our generation with the gospel if we will obey him, and we will see the drought of our generation pass away and begin to experience the blessings of God once again.
